Me gusto su capacidad de cuestionamiento , su capacidad de observar lo que otros no veÃan, su interÃ©s por la perfecciÃ³n , su capacidad de generar proyectos. Felizmente , le gustaba escribir y tomar notas de sus experimentos e ideas , su legado sobrevive en toda su amplitud gracias a esta cualidad de este genio.

Esta biografia escrita por Isaacson, es una de las mejores que lei de todas sobre Leonardo da Vinci. Este libro te guia de forma supremamente interesante sobre los diferentes aspectos de la vida de Leonardo; asi por ejemplo el autor explica las pinturas, vocetos, graficos (con ilustraciones) y puedes ver y cotejar de forma didactica las explicaciones que hace el autor sobre los trabajos de Leonardo. Very good guide with lots of useful information for all quest and items .Font is a good size not small like most guides released from Prima or Piggyback.Spine and pages of guide are put together very well and secure.I have The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild,Mass Effect Andromeda and FFXV guides as well as many others released the past few years with Font to small and Pages falling out within hours of use.I'm very pleased with this guide and the quality Future Press put into it.It was well worth the wait.I Added some pics hope they help

Future Press delivers a gorgeous and painstakingly well-crafted tribute to Horizon Zero Dawn in this blend of strategy guide and art book.There's a treasure trove of information in here including effective strategies for taking down every machine, quest, and hunting lodge, locations for every collectible and datapoint, an encyclopedia documenting the game's world and characters, and so much more. Even as someone who's already beaten most of the game, it's fun just to read through the bestiary, for example, and pick up on new strategies that I'd never thought of or learn new details of how the machines behave.I really love this game and it's great to be able to study it in a detailed package like this. One of my favorite sections is the in depth interviews with several members of Guerilla Games. It's interesting to read about what inspired the team's choice of machine designs and what other games helped influence its fantastic combat system.That this all comes in a full color 650+ page book of textbook quality for such a low price is remarkable. Highly recommended.

This is one serious and weighty tome full of great information about an early contender for Game of the Year. When I first received this strategy guide I was astounded by the sheer size and attractive construction. This is a beautiful book, and (I feel) made with care. As someone who owns multiple guides from several different publishers, this Future Press one really seems a step up in quality.The guidebook is well organized and tries to be spoiler-free (to mostly success). Everything - I mean everything - is described in great detail and depth, whether the enemies, weapons, armors, mods, ammo types, skills, etc. The layout is attractive enough without being too cluttered (or tiny font), and even with the rather complete filling of each page this guide is nearly 2 inches thick with over 650 pages. It's evident a lot of work went into this. For the price, it was an absolute steal and even if your Aloy is already slicing through the toughest mobs like a Ginzu, I recommend picking it up. You're almost certain to learn something new.

Very high quality guide. Very thick, well written, tons of info.I collect guides, so I'm generally more interested in their quality, layout, art and extras. I'm a fan of the big map and the lore/world section at the end in particular. Kudos for adding a bookmark ribbon.As for game info... well, it isn't the guide's fault. The guide has TONS of info. It covers practically everything, from walkthroughs to enemy strategy to detailed raw numbers. It even has an overview for the events you should go through in the game, including side content, that doesn't go deep into details or spoilers, if you want to plan a playthrough. It is very good.The problem is with the game. Since the game itself holds your hand very thoroughly, I only actually used the guide for entertainment value, the story section and a brief look at the weapon and enemy strat sections. The game points you to exactly where all the collectibles are and every quest takes you directly to where you need to go like a GPS. The few puzzles aren't taxing. I don't think I ever even opened the quest/walkthrough chapter.The guide for the data collectibles is an exception, as the game doesn't point them out and in fact they can be small and hard to find. I didn't bother to collect every data point since I was already done with the game and they aren't required for platinum, but if you want to hit every last bit of story found in these collectibles, I recommend following this section of the guide as you play the game, rather than the quest guide. I didn't, and missed out on many data points that are too much of a pain to go back and find now.Summary - very, very high quality and beautiful guide that will be great on your shelf with your other CE guides. You probably won't need 80% of the content though, but it is there in spades.

Just received my copy. This is my first Future Press strategy guide and I am very impressed. I have number of collector's edition strategy guides (hardly use them. Its just to have them as collector) and this is the first I've seen that is so detailed and informative. The paper material is of full color high quality and not some cheap thin paper. Same goes for the full size map. The paper material on wall map is thicker. The wall map is 2-sided full color and its about 23.5" x 31.5" unfolded. I like how the map listed with pictures of each machines and what page to find information on them in the guide. Additionally, the price is amazing, especially for a collector's edition version.As I glimpse through the guide, its easily noticeable that a lot of dedication, time, and effort has been put into making this guide. Its more of an encyclopedia. This guide is really 655 pages full color. Very well done!This guide is definitely worth getting.I'm waiting for Nioh Collector's Edition Strategy Guide, also by Future Press (pre-ordered). If Horizon's guide is this well made and this is their "usual normal" thing, then I'm definitely eager to get my hands on Nioh and others as well.

I almost canceled this order multiple times because it was taking so long to be released. Now I'm glad I was patient. As other reviews have mentioned, this is a very well put together and thorough guide. It also has some amazing pictures, artwork, and interviews with the game developers. Definitely worth the wait.

Liebling is a wonderful writer, and I've read this book several times. If the subject of Paris in the Twenties is of interest to you, then you will love this. It's in a class with Glassco's "Memoirs of Montparnasse,", Hemingway's "A Movable Feast," and Morley Callahan's memoir. (Can't recall the name right now.) Liebling, however, didn't associate with artists and writers or anyone famous. But he ATE. (Not expensively, but well.)

One of my all-time favorite books by my favorite writer, AJ Liebling. He took the money his favor had given him to study at the Sorbonne in the 1920s and instead spent it all on the most amazing dinners. His descriptions of food and wine are nonparei.If you liked Hemingwayâ€™s â€œA Moveable Feastâ€, youâ€™ll love this.

I have to say first of all that I'm a sucker for all of the "Paris in the early part of the twentieth century" literature. I love Celine and Miller, but my favorite was Hemingway's A Moveable Feast. Well, Between Meals is no A Moveable Feast but it certainly is a high quality read that I can unquestionably recommend to you.Liebling, make no mistake, is a top notch writer and his sentence structure, use of metaphor, and style have much to offer aspiring wordsmiths. He has an eye for the essential and this is particularly true if you're at all like me as far as food is concerned. Liebling is a true gourmand and, even though I am completely unlearned and unappreciative in regards to fine dining, I still enjoyed his narration and memories of that splendid age.The best of these essays is "Passable" where he recalls his old girlfriend from his student years. Liebling informs us that he does a poor job in reconstructing her but his description of their romance is quite compelling. I loved that essay just as I did the one on Mirande. This is a world long gone but we're fortunate that books like this are still in print. Reading it will give you a snapshot of beauty that will hang like a Renoir in the corridors of your mind.

This is one of those books that, as you very reluctantly finish and shelve it you think to yourself "Damn! Where has THIS author been all my life?" Needless to say perhaps (but then we always go on to say it!) my next order is already in and awaited. Brilliant, witty, readable prose from a professional who earnt his keep as a columnist on the great magazine - as it once was - The New Yorker. Born to a well-off family, in the summer 1926, Liebling sailed to Europe where he studied French medieval literature at the Sorbonne in Paris. Supposedly.Having blackmailed his father into funding a year in Europe - and having spent his first year's allowance before he even left! - Liebling actually spent his second adequate monthly released funding studying "feeding".Despite a reputation based on his New Yorker columns on life, boxing and mankind's foibles it is his writing on food and `feeding' for which he is mostly acclaimed. His editor decried his claims to be a gourmet, and as was explained by my own `feeding' French mentor many years after his 1916 ventures, he was assured he was actually a gourmand. Jointly our shapes at our stages of maturity confirm this more apt definition!Wonderfully witty but actually very astute writing on restaurants, food and wine demonstrate this author's ability to ensnare the reader in his works. Almost weeping for my `long lost' Paris at the end - sated and stuffed - I put aside this greedy `foodies' pornography with reluctant glee.Great reading! Bon Apppetit!

My naive vision of 20th century Paris before the war mainly consisted of literature by the lost generation, a few extravagant paintings and musical productions, and the defiant attitude towards the conventional exhibited by a handful of demented visionaries. Liebling presents another vision through the eyes of a hungry man with enormous appetite and appreciation for good food. The aromas of a pungent potage, a traditional roast or some other species of cuisine francaise pulse obsessively behind every word, even in between meals, driving this grand odyssey through the great masterpieces of the senses. This hunger is tightly enmeshed with the cultural experience presented, and the narrative arc is akin to a classical sonata. First, the tonic key is introduced within the motif of extravagant eating - and then the story moves on through a series of modulating encounters, some incredibly hard to believe, like his burgundy adventures, eventually finding itself unable to return to its home key - unable to find again the same kind of cuisine - until a chance, and final encounter during the wartime (I won't reveal the details).I urge readers who enjoy hearty food and serious literature to consider this book.

A.J. Liebling was a brilliant reporter for the New Yorker in the 30s-50s, and a passionate lover of Paris and french food. All this comes together in this charming work.

I read and absolutely loved "Where the Mountain Meets the Moon" and was very excited to pick up another book by Lin. This book was very similar to â€œWhere the Mountain Meets the Moonâ€ theme wise. I didn't like this book quite as much as that book, but it was still very good.This book follows a young boy named Rendi who has run away from home and is working as a chore boy in a small village. A mysterious lady arrives and, through stories, helps both the village and Rendi find their way.There is excellent storytelling in here and interesting folklore. I continue to really enjoy the way the book is put together with beautiful illustrations and full color plates throughout.I didnâ€™t think this story was as engaging and fluid as â€œWhere the Mountain Meets the Moonâ€. This book does weave a lot of stories within stories but they werenâ€™t as adventurous..Overall I enjoyed this beautifully done Asian-themed folklore story. Although not as stunning as â€œWhere the Mountain Meets the Moonâ€ it still has a lot of the qualities that made me love that book. I recommend to those who enjoy folklore and fairy tales.

In my review of Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, I asserted that it comes as close to high art in children's books as you can find. That is still my opinion. Starry River of the Sky is advertised as a companion book, but it is really a prequel to the earlier book. I didn't realize that this was the case until about a quarter of the way into the book when Rendi, an angry boy forced to be a â€œchore boyâ€ at a small town inn, tells a story about Magistrate Tiger, who plays a prominent role in Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. The main plot centers on Rendi who has run away from home and has a secret past that he hopes none of the other people at the inn discover. It also the case that he is the only one who seems to notice that the moon is missing. At night he is tormented by a crying, wailing sound that keeps him awake. He is resentful and goes out of his way to be cruel to others, especially the inn keepâ€™s daughter, Peiyi. As with Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, Lin interweaves a number of stories told by various characters which begin to merge with the main plot line. We learn, for example, that the inn is located in the Village of Clear Sky because the Mountain Spirit moved the Never Ending Mountain out of fear that Peiyiâ€™s great grandfather would dig up and carry it away so that it would no longer block his view of the sky. As the plot progresses, we meet new characters and learn about various conflicts among the townâ€™s residents. We also slowly learn about Rendiâ€™s past and admit to the source of his anger. Eventually, the missing moon is found and Rendi puts his anger aside, with an ending that anticipates several objects and events in Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. Other reviewers have noted that this is a story about forgiveness. But for me, it is more than people saying â€œIâ€™m sorryâ€ or â€œI forgive you.â€ It is how forgiveness can come from resolving problems to the satisfaction of both parties who feel wronged and how the aid of others is vital to this process. Although I did not find Starry River of the Sky as moving or memorable as Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, it is an excellent, inspiring story, with great artwork. Another gem by Grace Lin. I recommend it without reservation.

There are some authors that the minute I know they have a new book coming out, I immediately pre-order it. Grace Lin is one of those authors. Not just because I love her gorgeous illustrations (I love those bright colors she always uses), which I do, but also because her stories always draw me in and make me want to be a part of her characters lives. So, when I heard about this book, I knew I would love it and I did.Rendi is an interesting character from page one. While he is not particularly likeable at first, one quickly realizes that the reason he is such a jerk is because he is desperately unhappy. But it isn't until the arrival of Madame Chang that we slowly start to find out why. I also enjoyed the way the other characters lives slowly blend together with Rendi's to create a story of stories and their importance in our lives. I especially liked it when Madame Chang tells Rendi that the reason she asked him to tell stories of his own was because she wanted to know him better and that when we tell stories we reveal something of ourselves.I loved the way the different threads of the story came together at the end. Rendi's story, Madame Chang's story, Peiyi's and her father's and brother's stories as well as that of the missing moon all come together at the end revealing the underlying theme of forgiveness. If you haven't yet read this book, I highly recommend that you do. It's definitely going on my favorites shelf.

'Where the Mountain Meets the Moon' is perhaps my favorite children's book of all time. So when I heard Grace Lin was writing a companion novel in the same style (folktales and artwork interspersed), I knew I had to get my hands on it immediately, and I hoped it would live up to 'Where the Mountain...' To be brief, yes, it did live up to my expectations. Once again Lin gives us interesting characters, many of whom are more than meets the eye. The folktales told by these characters throughout the book intertwine with the main plot line at the end of the story. The main difference between this and 'Where the Mountain...' is that the setting remains constant. It is not a physical journey for our protagonist, Rendi, but rather an emotional journey as he discovers what is important to him. Overall, really enjoyable and beautiful. I hope Lin creates another one!

I discovered Ed on the VINwiki YouTube channel and was immediately enchanted by his phenomenal storytelling. I heard about this book and eagerly picked it up to see if it would match up with his video tales. It went well above my expectations.This book is a collection of car stories, reflections on faith, and a decade-encompassing pursuit of a wild dream told through a unique blend of comedy, straightforwardness, and raw determination. One of my favorite parts of the book is how Ed brought in so many people to tell their perspective of the story - it really reinforced how much of a team effort this was.I couldn't put it down and stayed up irresponsibly late on weeknight to finish it. You won't be disappointed!

There are only a few books that are primarily about Cannonball. Brock Yates, Alex Roy and now Ed Bolian have written down their story. This is more than the autobiography of a driven man, it is the inside details, the nitty gritty how to of underground long distance outlaw racing.

A fast read (pun intended). Ed Bolian has a knack for storytelling. Achieving his life-long goal of beating the Cannonball Run record is a story that resonates with all manner of automobile fans. And stories of selling Lamborghinis to some REALLY interesting people makes for a great light-hearted story.

If you have ever contemplated the prodigious effort necessary to take on something like the Cannonball, this is the best accounting, not of just war stories, but the physical and mental preparation to be the record holder. It joins the ranks of must reads if chasing the sun to the Portofino

I could read or watch Ed Bolian on YouTube all day long. The man simply knows how to tell a great story. And this great true story is told very well and is quite captivating. I found it hard to put down and it left me wanting more.

Ed has a great writing style and I really enjoyed the entire adventure. I felt like I was along for the ride.

Great read! I'm a gearhead so this was right up my alley, you'll love it if your into that sort of thing. Well written, keeps your attention. just wish they took more video documentation of the trip!

Along these lines, after Machiavelli wrote THE PRINCE and before he published it, he wrote a small work entitled â€œThe Life of Castruccio Castracani of Luccaâ€ that illustrated the importance of caution and diplomacy instead of endless conquests. The key was that princes should keep the limitations of their successors in mind when planning military campaigns. After all, princes die young sometimes.Nothing clear is presented about how a prince should deal with his subjects. A prince might need to kill them, but should leave their property and women alone. He should disarm them so they canâ€™t overthrow him. But what if the principality is being invaded and he needs armed subjects to help him fight the invaders? Liberality is the quickest way to be despised by the subjects, but they should be given festivals and spectacles. Itâ€™s confusing and I may have missed it, but he provides no historical examples of princes that prevented unrest and those who failed to do so.Whatâ€™s also confusing is what everyone focuses on when they talk about this book. I'm referring to the morality of the prince. Must he have a moral duty, breaking conventional rules only when they interfere with this duty? I often heard of this book but never read it and after reading it I am sorry I didn't pick it up sooner. Some people think that the book is cruel and calculating, but I think it is very insightful of how governments take over countries and keep their citizens in line. Some times it means killing the old administration (literally) and other times it means employing citizens in new territories that you are trying to take over. The writing wasn't convoluted at all. It was very clear and well written. This is definitely a book you can read over and over again.

A great thesis worth multiple readings. This collection of essays and letters are one man's fascinating take on politics and war. The only thing which takes away from the overall work are the appendices which try to spoon-feed conclusions as opposed to providing context for the greater work.To be able to read and understand this book correctly, you must be prepared to spend some time understanding the politics and conflicts of the time. That being said, it's the only way to do it and be able to grasp more than surface conclusions. Being able to read and understand the work changed my understanding of not just politics, but also my interactions with different groups both socially and in my work life.

The idea of "reviewing" this is more than a little silly -- it's arguably the most influential non-religious work of all time -- but I thought a few comments & historical notes might still be worthwhile."The Prince" was essentially the first work of political realism in Western thought -- the first work of Western political philosophy that concerned itself not with the ideal government (as Plato had done in his _Republic_) but with the practical realities of getting and holding power. To describe the impact and influence of that willingness, that first notion that conventional morality might not be the best guide to success, would be as impossible a task as trying to summarize the influence of Galileo. Napoleon is rumored to have written extensive annotations to this book; Stalin allegedly kept a copy on his nightstand. So far, the questions from chapters 1-5 all matched the US version. Saved me a lot of money!There are some minor misprints, typos, smudges, etc throughout the text, but I don't know if those are also present in the normal version or not.As far as the book goes, the reading is mostly great. I wish it would go into a little bit more basic explanation on some things, as it feels like you need a lot of prior knowledge about the inner workings of computers to comprehend what it talks about. The end of chapter questions are the worst example of this. For most of the questions, you simply cannot answer them without serious google research. The reading does not prepare you for the questions.

This is how a technical book should be written. It's a nice middle ground for those of us who don't want to read a pure technical book, but has really great information. Definitely better than The Design of the UNIX Operating System. That book put me to sleep after 1 chapter. I think the two books complement each other, but unless you're a die hard Linux nerd or someone who really needs to know the exact details of how the UNIX OS works, I'd recommend Modern Operating Systems. I'm an Android Dev, and there's a great chapter about Android.

Thanks to my embedded/real-time OS instructor for recommending this book for our reference. The book is amazing and very easy read as the OS concepts are explained very well. The author(s) goes to a deep level and covers several topics including Virtualization and Cloud and Security. He also has a case study of Unix/Linux/Android and Windows 8. I highly recommend buying this book, reading it and owning it!!!

Great book, well written and covers a ton. Quality of the global edition is perfect. Not going into detail on the content, just wanted to say I have no regrets getting the less expensive global edition.After posting this review for the global edition I see that it shows up for the paperback non-global edition. Looks like an even better deal at $25 vs $50 for the global. Somehow I missed that when I placed my order but was glad to not have to shell out $175 for the hard cover version!

This book is really good to understand the concept of OS. The writer goes very deep in all topics of OS. It teaches all core concepts of OS. I highly recommend it for self taught people and people who are learning OS in school. great overall.

Operating Systems is a confusing thing to learn without the proper tools, which is why books like this one exists.Tanenbaum gives crystal clear explanations about OS vocab and technicalities such as processes and page replacement algorithms.This book is so good that sometimes I read it on my free time, even though I have finished taking the class.Tanenbaum wants you to really learn the concept of OS. He even gives you a brief explanation on the C language (on the version I bought, anyway), which helped out a lot since we needed to program in C/C++ and I am a student who began programming in Java; yes, those two languages are VERY different.Overall, if you need to take a class that requires you to buy this book, buy it. You won't be disappointed.

You may know Tess Gerritson as the author of the popular Rizzoli & Isles series, but her stand alone novels are even better. Gerritsen is a medical doctor and writes with an expert's knowledge and understanding of the complicated, carefully regulated business of harvesting human organs.

Talk about nail biting! I could not put the book down. We all know that trafficking in human organs happens no matter the fail safes put into place, this book went so far to show how wide spread it is and bow MONEY can buy just about anything! Except honesty, dignity, human compassion and just ordinary people doing their jobs with little or no thanks. For all of those caring, selfless, good hearted people MANY THANKS never give up. This book and this author is for all of you. My most heartfelt thanks to Ms. Gerritsen and the GOOD PEOPLE who DON'T succumb to the almighty buck. Way too go AMERICA!

Abby de Mateo is a second year resident at a big Boston hospital.She is very excited to be offered a place on the cardiac transplantation team and has a bright future ahead of her. But Abby soon realises that something is terribly wrong with the transplant team. Heart transplants don't always seem to be going to the most deserving patients and there is a mystery over where some donor hearts are being collected. When she starts to investigate she finds a conspiracy against her and is not even sure if she can even trust her boyfriend, Mark, himself a member of the transplant team.A gripping, dark medical thriller with some gruesome moments. Highly recommended to all lovers of psychological thrillers!

Tightly written, but somewhat predictable medical thriller. Abbey, a young surgical intern with a brilliant career ahead of her stumbles onto a sinister crime syndicate. This a story told well, but a story that is a little overdone in the anals of medical thrillers. The medical jargon was trying at times. A bit too much med-speak for the uninitiated. This is probably my first and last medical thriller for 2017.

I love all of Tess Gerritsen's books and this was super exciting. A wealthy woman and a teenaged boy need heart transplants. The boy was near death and got the transplant. The wealthy woman's husband is incensed and makes one of the transplant doctors life miserable and frightening. There is something evil and dark going on and it is up to Dr. Abby DiMatteo to find out why transplant team doctors are committing suicide and why she is being followed and having her career threatened. Fast exciting read.

This is the first Tess Gerritsen book I've read and it kept me reading long past my bedtime! Very suspenseful and a little scary to think that a black market for organs for transplant probably does exist. If people have enough money, they can buy anything, even another person's life to selfishly save their own. I would encourage anyone who reads this book to immediately put on their driver's license that they want to be an organ donor. Only by having more legally obtained organs available will black markets be put out of business. I would hope that due to the fictional nature of this book there would not be so many unethical doctors involved in such a scheme but anything is possible for money. Read it, you won't be disappointed.

I LOVED this book! Unlike Gerritsen's Rizzoli and Isles series, this one taps into her medical background to create a story about transplant surgery and some of the terrible things that can go wrong. Her main character, Abby, is a resident in the transplant unit. What a closed society! As you read along, you begin to see why. Gerritsen has done a great job of keeping the reader on the edge of her seat. I dare you to put it down for long!I believe this was her first book. The writing was excellent. In my opinion, better than some of the R & I's books. Can't wait to read more of her earlier books!
