I have used AutoCAD for years and was hoping to learn some new tricks and short cuts. I found a few but not what I had hoped for. A beginner would probably find it useful.

I have been struggling with ACad for the little extra instructions needed to make my work easier and more complete

I admit; I am a dummy when it comes to computers and anything that explains computers in plain simple language is welcome.

Haven't had much time to read it.

Whilst I am still reading through this book I find the 3D coverage limited, a little more detail in this area would be an improvement.

I learned alot

In my pursuit to learn AutoCAD as quickly as I can, I have purchased the three main tutorial books for AutoCAD 2004.While AutoCAD 2004 for Dummies by Mark Middlebrook is the most basic of the three (Duh... it's for dummies) it still covers much of the important material in a manner that a complete newbie could probably understand a specific instruction or chapter.The way Mr. Middlebrook approaches AutoCAD though is pretty tough to comprehend. That is, he spends the entire book discussing various commands and how to approach a drawing, but never walks you through a project.I found David Frey's book AutoCAD 2004 and AutoCAD LT 2004 a much better instructional book and while only slightly more techie he manages to walk you through a project that lets you truly understand what he's trying to teach you.My biggest gripe with AutoCAD 2004 for Dummies is the incredible amount of typos! Gawd! I am a high school teacher and this guy would fail an essay that I assign at the high school level. What in the world is he doing writing a book if he can't spell or proofread? Either he or his editor should go back to English class. I see that Mr. Middlebrook himself has weighed in on this. Just so he knows, I'm looking at the fourth printing (I think... The information page says 10 9 8 7 6 5 4. Does that mean it's on the third or fourth printing? I'm not a librarian!) I only mention this because he says he's only found 5 mistakes. I've found at least a dozen pretty obvious ones, and a many, many minor ones.The single most grievous mistake is on pages 100 and 101, Chapter 5, table 5-1. It is supposed to be a table of various tools you can use to draw objects. Other than the first one, each icon is incorrectly matched with a description! For example, he shows the "copy" tool icon, but then calls it a SPLine and gives the description for a SPLine. I count eight errors in that table alone. If you are truly a newbie to AutoCAD then you might never get it sorted out. This mistake alone merits not purchasing the book or asking of your money back because it's an example of how a "typo" can be critically damaging. No, I am not an English teacher, nor am I overly zealotous toward proofreading. However, I do have only a certain tolerance for typos and when they interfere with my learning the subject, then its time to move on to another resource.While I have learned things from this book, it is clearly the least useful of the three I have bought. The two Sybex books by Frey and Omura have much more thought and effort put into them and are extremely comprehensive. I'd pick the Frey book first though.I do not doubt for a second Mr. Middlebrook's knowledge or experience with AutoCAD. He clearly knows his stuff. I just wish he, and his editor, would learn to proofread. That, or hire me to proofread for you! I'm as literate as your editor, computer savvy, and experienced. Look me up.The Dummies series could really learn from the mistakes made here. I'm done with the Dummies series. There are much better resources out there, at least on the topics that I'm interested in. They've lost my purchases. Good luck though!

You'd think that being 79 years old that I'd have had experience in Cast Iron Cooking...not so. I'm just starting to learn and to appreciate the wonders of cooking with this old method. I love the recipes for indoor cooking, I don't do outdoor cooking anymore, but these recipes are wonderful. Thank you so much for creating them. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THEM!!!!!

This cookbook is exactly what I have searched for and a such a low price, I am so impressed with this book, Below, I state all of the Pros that I found in this wonderful cookbook:1) The first part of this book has cooking tips and how to season cast iron, how to clean cast iron, dry cast iron and even how to store cast iron. These were things that I had forgotten over the years of not cooking in cast iron. (I recently bought some Lodge Cast Iron skillets and a Lodge Dutch Oven and wanted to begin my new cooking adventure).2) Recipes - The recipes cover recipes for cooking INSIDE and also OUTSIDE over a campfire or grill. The recipes I have tried and are very easy to make with regular ingredients found in regular grocery stores. In fact, most of the recipes, I already had all of the ingredients and did not have to run to the store to purchase extra ingredients just for the recipe!**My favorite recipes are Old-Fashioned Pork Roast. I cooked this inside in my Lodge 10" Dutch Oven. Since this recipe is for 8 servings, I cut it in half for 4 servings (for two people). The recipe even states how to make a gravy in the Dutch Oven and it is so so great!This is also a great camping recipe as well using a Dutch Oven.Other favorite recipe is Cheesy Potatoes and Ham - I made the full recipe for 5 servings and the two of us ate it all! It was that tasty! I just added a green salad to round out the meal and this was a very filling and delicious meal!3) Each recipe has a picture of what type of iron ware to use as a Dutch Oven 10 inch, Frying Pan 10 inch and more! The camping out (cook it outside recipes) tell you how many coals to use.Also each recipe tell you how many servings it will make.4) Dutch Oven recipes - This book has recipes for both the 10 inch and the larger 12 inch Dutch Ovens. This I was so happy to discover as I like to use my 10 inch Dutch Oven often! Also, in the recipes for the larger 12 inch one, I cut the recipe in one half because I am cooking for two people and do not have a 12 inch Dutch Oven, the 10 inch one works great when I cut the recipe.5) Spiral Bound - Since I love to lay my cookbooks flat on my kitchen counter while I am cooking, this one is perfect! **Also the outside cover is plenty thick and has a clear coating and it wipes clean!6) Easy to follow recipes for cooking indoors or outdoors!This FANTASTIC COOKBOOK I rate a FULL 5 stars because it is the BEST CAST IRON cookbook I have found and the recipes in this book are the best I have found!Highly recommend this cookbook - I love mine!

No longer do I have to try to remember cast iron cooking "tricks" that I picked up over the years - most, if not all, of those "tricks" are in this book. A "must buy" for the novice and a "good buy" for everyone else.

Lives up to the claims. Really nice design and easy to use. We have been enjoying using different recipes with our cast iron. What is really great is that it gives instructions for both home and camp cooking. Wish they all did that!

I usually turn to the internet when I'm looking for a new recipe or visual on how to do something. I purchased this little cookbook to keep in our camper for those times when I don't have internet service. I've cooked with cast iron on the stove top for many years, but I'm not sure how that translates to cooking over a fire so was happy to see that this recipe book contained instructions for cooking both inside and outside. There aren't a huge variety of recipes in this book (and no food pictures except for the cover) but I figure it is a good starting point for times and temps. I'm pretty good at going off in my own direction when it comes to ingredients. I haven't tried a lot of the recipes but was a bit disappointed when I couldn't find one for cooking a whole chicken. It does have one for a cut up chicken but the times and temps were what I was hoping to find. Maybe their next edition could include a simple chart with indoor and outdoor times and temps. This will fit the bill for the camper and won't take up much space - not a bad price. Hope this was helpful :)

This cookbook has a lot of info on cooking with cast iron. It also has options for cooking on a stove/oven or on a campfire. However, it is not a "from scratch" cookbook. That's why I didn't give it more stars. If you like cooking with ready made foods this cookbook is for you.

This book is a very nice introduction to cast iron cooking for any cook, beside you may use recipes inside and out.

I am very happy with this little cookbook! It is spiral bound so it lays flat when you are using it. Not too many books are made that way any more. It is a simple, concise book that gives you everything you need to start with Dutch Oven, campfire cooking. I look forward to trying some of the recipes. So happy that I found this book.

It is hard to imagine another book being published about the Wilcox Tragedy on Denali, which happened 47 years ago. Four books have already been written about the disaster to date--the last came out in 2012--and was penned by me.My brother Bill Babcock, was the leader of what would become the rescue team. He had invited me along for the ride the previous fall of '66. I was then living on the East coast and attending college in Maine. The Mountaineering Club of Alaska had asked Bill to lead an expedition (the 53rd), which by chance trailed a week behind the Wilcox team. Both teams used the standard Muldrow Glacier / Karstens Ridge approach on the North side of Mount McKinley. When the worst storm in Denali's history exploded on top, our team was positioned to assist the five survivors, and to search the upper slopes and hopefully find the 7 missing climbers. At 19, I was not only the youngest and least experienced member of our group. I was also terrified by what lay ahead for our group.Andy Hall, whose father was Park Superintendent at the time has given us another version of this sad story, which he calls 'Denali's Howl.' Andy was five and living with his family in the park when the event took place in the summer of 1967. George Hall was Andy's father.Andy's book offers readers a carefully researched and thoroughly engrossing account of one of North American mountaineering's most controversial and heart-rendering stories. HIs narrative offers many varied and personal accounts of what happened, and he paints a vivid picture of each of the men on the 12-man Wilcox team. Andy describes this sheer terror with all the skill of a gifted writer. This book was recently the subject of an Anchorage Daily News article, which also provided a short excerpt. I downloaded a sample on my Kindle and was immediately mesmerized by the tragic story of twelve young men climbing Denali. The story is forceful and weighty, and other reviews describe its content well; I want to address the author's talent in his presentation of of being in the worst place at the worst time. Mr. Hall's unflinching account of Joe Wilcox's group of climbers was graphic, but never gratuitous, in its description. At the beginning of the expedition, I could almost SEE the testosterone leaking out the car windows and spilling into every discussion the group had. Despite this, there was so much compassion in the telling that I put aside any criticisms of the climbers' egos and questionable (at times) choices and just cared about the guys. Mr. Hall obviously curtailed any judgmental thoughts when he waswriting this, so I felt compelled to do the same, which made the story even more haunting. This is a tricky thing for an author toaccomplish, and Hall really nailed it. His descriptions of his father's part in the story showed a man who was obviously meant to do the job he was given. The storm, especially the wind, was a character in itself, totally indifferent to damage and death, just carrying on the way it has done for millions of years. I loved this book and enjoyed the writing of this talented author. Each person was shown warts and all the way we all are as humans. I highly recommend "Denali's Howl", regardless of what genre the reader usually reads. Somehow, this book transcends genre, and I think that it will appeal to almost any reader. Money and time very well-spent. Thank you, Mr. Hall.

For those that don't know, in the summer of 1967, a 12 man team attempted to climb Denali (Mt. McKinley), the tallest mountain in North America....only 5 came back. I'm astonished that more people don't know (or aren't aware) of this story. I know that when it comes to mountaineering disasters, most eyes turn to Everest, K2, and the rest of the Himalayas and many of the classic books written covering those related tales (Into Thin Air, The Savage Mountain, Annapurna, etc), but I'm hoping that more readers will come to know of this tragic story (it as afterall to this day, the deadliest mountaneering disaster in American history) through Andy Hall's newly written book covering this story.There's been 4 other books written on this tradegy (two from actual survivors) and it was hard to imagine any more new details emerging, but the author went to great lengths to recover and unearth old documents, recordings, interviews, etc and it definitely shows, most notably the details surrounding the "super-storm" that attacked the mountain that summer. Few details were ever evident in previous books (from the scientific side), and it was mind boggling to finally read and absorb the actual detailed conditions the climbers were faced with high up near the summit.It was also great to read some opinions and thoughts from other notable mountaineers and climbing guides on the subject, each giving their own insight to the mistakes, and problems the 12 man team faced while ascending the mountain, and relating it to their own experiences (some on the same mountain). Also want to point out that another plus to this new book was the inclusion of color photographs from the expedition from Howard Snyder's personal collection (in previous books, we were left to grainy black and white photos).At the end of the day, many questions will remain unanswered and some mysteries forever left unsolved about this climb, but thanks to Andy's incredible research, a thoughtful portrait of each climber, and their ascent up one of the largest mountains in the world has been painted, and I can't help but just admire and respect each and every one of them. They weren't showboats, they weren't world famous mountaineers; they were just young humbled college-aged kids who, while America was at war and in the midst of some type of revolution, just wanted to climb, and sadly due to some mistakes, and some horrendous bad luck, found themselves in the history books for the wrong reasons.It's hardly ever the details and descriptions of the vast mountains, or wild weather, or the "epicness" of the adventure that draw me to these stories, but moreso the people involved, and their story and their will to face something that is obviously much grander, vast, and much more powerful than they are. It's the elements of challenging, fighting, and enduring these conditions (sometimes winning, sometimes losing) that make it difficult for me to put these books down, Denali's Howl included.Whether you're familiar with this story or not, whether you enjoy mountaineering books or not, if you're looking for a true tale of fight and survival, triumph and tragedy, then I highly recommend you pick this up and experience the deadliest mountaineering disaster in American history.

When you buy something like this I see only two ways to judge it. 1- are you doing it and 2- does it help. The book is clear enough in most places that I can do the moves. Note that I'm a lifelong weight lifter turned golfer in mid-life so exercise instruction I understand.This is not a general fitness or bulk up book. This is work to improve muscles involved in the golf swing. I will note right away that I think this book has helped with some back pain I've had on and off for 20 years already.Does it help my golf game? Well it is July 2018, the reality is I will find out in March 2019 when the season starts. Like any conditioning program this is not a get rich quick scheme. I've seen enough positive about the authors ideas though that I don't see any risk or downside to working on this over the fall and winter. I continue to lift normal weights 2 days a week in addition to this program.

This book offers very clear text descriptions of an extensive set of exercises for golfers. It includes an assessment, similar to what Titleist Performance Institute certified trainers offer. It includes a basic set of 12 essential exercises as well an additional 20 or so that are targeted to specific weaknesses or range of motion limitations identified by doing the easy 6 part assessment. (easy to complete, not easy to do well)Reviews that complained about black and white photos almost kept me from getting this book on my Kindle, but with the exception of one exercise photo set, I found it to be complete and quite clear as to the expected movements. The author writes in a clear and engaging style which made it more interesting to complete the book (exercise descriptions are difficult to make interesting). In addition, he explained WHY some swing flaws occur from a range of motion and strength perspective. I found this content very, very helpful. I highly recommend this book.

I was looking for an exercise / stretching program that provided some kind of metrics. In other words, how would I know how much progress I was making (if any)? This book doesn't exactly provide detailed metrics (like degrees of rotation) but it does provide a set of simple "assessments" you can do to grade your flexibility. If you fail an assessment, it provides a routine specifically designed to address that failure. For example, can you stand with your back against a wall, raise both arms to shoulder height, and press your forearms against the wall (while keeping your back and rear end in contact with the wall)? I could not, but I get a little closer every time I do the recommended stretches. Of course, the only real metric that matters is my golf score; I haven't been doing the exercises long enough to see a change, but I do feel a lot looser when I go to the first tee if I do these drills first.

Forget the new 400.00 drivers, new putters and latest swing gadgets. If you REALLY want to improve your golf game you need to prepare your body to handle a golf swing. You don't have to devote your life to working out or spend hours in the gym. If you can set aside 30 to 45 minutes, 3 days a week, AT HOME, this book will get you there. After only 3 weeks, still on the beginning program, I have seen dramatic results in my ball striking, movement and stamina on the course (and I am a 10 handicap already).This is one "golf" book I think that is worth every penny. But DO NOT BUY THIS if you are not willing to Putin the minimal work required. You will not improve by simply reading this book and looking at the pictures.

The best golf specific excercise and training book I have ever read. I wanted to join a gym and hire a trainer, and I got both in this book. Well illustrarated with pictures and explainations of how each excercise should be done.

To the point , well written , easy to read , organized , great and useful content . Photos are poor quality, hard to see. Looks like an amateur took them . on top of that , cheaply printed. I only gave 4 star rating because the photos are needed to explain the exercises. Other than that , The material is great .

James M. Miller, PhD, is Emeritus Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. He is the coauthor of Basic Gas Chromatography with Harold McNair and coeditor of Analytical Chemistry in a GMP Environment with Jonathan Crowther, both published by Wiley. Dr. Miller is a Fellow of the Charles A. Dana Research Institute for Scientists Emeriti (RISE).

This is an excellent book for those new to the field of chromatography and for those who would like a 'general' review of the theory and concepts. The mathematical concepts are a little watered down (compared to the Giddings text), but this one offers a fantastic practical approach, including: GC and LC instrumentation, columns, brief-but-to-the-point chapters on method development, CZE and CEC, sample prep., and an excellent chapter on special applications. I am a graduate student in chemistry, and after drudging through the endless equations in Giddings' book, Miller's text was a breath of fresh air. It offers a much more practical and understandable approach for the use of the equations during a real chemical separation for a novice chromatographer (and I'm sure as a great reference for an expert too!). Overall, I highly recommend this book-- it gives life to theory of separation science.

I still use this book today after owning it for more than 2 years now. It was a really great buy.

The text is readable, but tends to be somewhat repetitive in parts. There seems to be some sections that could be covered more in depth, but for a general overview of chromatography, this books seems to be decent enough. In the graduate course I'm taking, this text book is supplemented with journal articles to fill in some of the missing depth. This structure seems to work well.
